It’s with a heavy heart that we have to announce that we are postponing The BoLS Open. We came to this decision due to a variety of factors. First and foremost is our duty to protect the health of our staff and attendees. In the face of the COVID19 pandemic, and in compliance with guidelines from the CDC, the State of Texas, and the City of Austin Health Department, mandate banning large gatherings. Other secondary factors included the negative effects on travel, and the Texas Masters Lone Star GT’s decision to re-schedule their event on top of ours without consultation. We also strongly support the ITC’s decision to curtail upcoming events in the interest of public health.
This was not an easy decision to make, but we must put the safety of our staff, vendors, and players first – and we want to run a great convention with events that will live up the expectations of our attendees.
There is a silver lining: we will be back! We don’t think it’s fair to players to move dates around repeatedly this year as the situation changes, so we have already secured dates for next year at the same venue. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you on June 11th-13th, 2021. Our fantastic TOs are returning and our vendors are on board.
To prepare for our first year we’ve already built 800 pieces of terrain from scratch, purchased nearly 100 mats, and have worked with vendors and sponsors to provide the best convention experience we can. That work is not stopping. The crew will continue to build and improve terrain, plan, and make the BoLS Open an even greater event for all in the next year – make sure you follow us on social media to see what we’re up to. We hope to see all of you there – until then, stay safe and start working on that hobby backlog 🙂
